Scotts Valley Police Department has a brand new officer. Thirteen month old “Atlas” joined our department on 7/21/14 as our 1st K-9 officer since 1972. He originally hails from Israel and is a German Shepherd / Malinois mix. He will be attending a 5 week plus training academy in August. He is going to bring his K-9 handler, Det. Brandon Polito, with him. Atlas will be trained in narcotics, patrol, and tracking.
The Scotts Valley Police Department K-9 program was revitalized with grant money and generous donations from the community. Tax deductible donations are still being accepted. Please contact K-9 handler Brandon Polito at 831-440-5670 if you would like to contribute.
