Baymonte Tech Trek
October 11, 2014 @ 7:30 am - 12:00 pm$30.
The fifth annual Baymonte Tech Trek fundraiser will be on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Last year, through sponsorship donations, race registration and the harvest festival, we were able to earn a profit of over $45,000!
The 5K race will start at 8:30am at the intersection of Granite Creek Road and Navarra Drive. The course will be as follows: South Navarra Drive to Green Hills Road, turning around before the new housing development, and finishing on the Baymonte campus. The Scotts Valley Police Department will direct traffic at the Granite Creek/Navarra intersection between 8:30am and 9:30am for the safety of the neighborhood. The Tot Trot (8:00am) and Fun Run (8:15am) is held entirely on the Baymonte campus.
Since the inaugural race in 2010, we have raised a combined total of over $140,000 to invest in our Instructional Technology Program. This year we will be implementing a 1:1 iPad Program in the Middle School. Tech Trek funds will be used to support the implementation of this exciting technology advancement by providing faculty training, system software, hardware, curriculum and student apps.
In our middle school Tech Trek funds will be used to cover the major network infrastructure upgrades made to support our one-one student iPad initiative launched this year. At the elementary level Tech Trek funds will be used for teacher training, updated software, and to continue to support the Accelerated Reader program initiated last school year. In addition, a SMART Table collaborative learning center will be purchased for the Kindergarten. Our Kindergarten Teachers and Technology Team observed a demonstration of this instructional technology for young students last year and have been eagerly awaiting funds to acquire one.
Baymonte’s Tech Trek has allowed Baymonte students to access the latest instructional technology resources; we are excited to continue to build on this tradition for the benefit of our students.
