Channel Islands Marine Program July 14-18
May 1, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
“Playful sea lions and shy seals join you as you explore amber forests of kelp. Pelicans, sea gulls, island foxes and bald eagles are just some of the remarkable island life that surround you as you embark on an academic voyage of discovery and exploration of the Santa Barbara Channel Islands.”
Hi Scotts Valley Parents!
Is your child in high school at SVHS, SLV or PCS? If so, they are invited to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity to one of our California treasures, the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. On this 5 day/4 night program (1 night at UCSB dorms and 3 nights at sea), students arrive by Starlight Express (train) to Santa Barbara where they will tranfer to UCSB’s Marine Science Institute. This program is created in partnership with NOAA and UCSB and led by Scotts Valley’s own former IB Biology teacher and current Associate Principal of SVHS, Micheal Hanson. This experience promises to be a fun learning adventure like no other! Please feel free to explore the links below for more information.
There will be a meeting held at Mint, May 1st at 7:00 in Scotts Valley, for anyone wishing to get more information. You can meet the chaperones and enjoy a tasty snack too. Please email [email protected] if you’d like to attend.
