Genealogy Lectures Series: Processing the Pandemic, with Gail Burk

January 4 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Gail Burk will continue GSSCC’s tradition of starting the new year with a genealogically-oriented writing program. As genealogists we not only trace our ancestors, we also document our own history for our descendants. During the past two years, all of us have been living through a world-wide pandemic that has affected everyone in different ways. We will explore various aspects of the Covid 19 experience and write about how the pandemic has affected each of us, and our families, in ways large and small, expected and unexpected. Please bring a notebook and pen, or laptop computer, as we will be writing during the in-person program.

Gail Burk is a long-time member of the Society, and has served in a number of Board positions, including President. Currently, she is a volunteer staffer for the Society. She has delivered a variety of programs over the years, and has also given presentations in the past at the Society’s genealogy seminars. Gail graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she majored in art, and minored in history. She has been an active genealogist for more than 42 years. For many years, Gail has participated in a weekly writing group and a monthly sketching group. During the pandemic, she spent hours during shelter-in-place breaking through one of her genealogical brick walls.
