About the instructor, Linda Curtis:
I was born in the “coal regions” of Pennsylvania, and my surroundings were depressingly gray. In my painting, I see
my world in terms of vibrant color. I’m fascinated by contrasts: light and dark, lost and found, wash in juxtaposition
to hard edges. Painting for me has become an expression of my inner serenity and clarity. I have been teaching watercolor on cruise ships for about 5 years. The cruises have taken my husband and I all overthe world. It has been amazing. I have seen places I never even dreamed I would be able to see. Most of the cruises have been on Queen Victoria. I taught every sea day on each cruise and the classes were 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. By the end of the class, many people were able to paint quite well. Some of the people had not ever used watercolor, and some had not painted at all!”
Linda has a BFA in Painting from the Philadelphia College of Art. She has won many awards for her work in local Juried Exhibitions. On Friday, August 5 th , Linda will be exhibiting at the Blitzer Gallery in Santa Cruz. She will also be
participating in the Santa Cruz Open Studios this fall.
