Just when you thought you could not stand another minute of sheltering in place, one of Scotts Valley’s yummiest traditions is returning to Skypark on Friday, April 23.

The events began in 2015, but last year, because of the pandemic and evacuation, Skypark was unavailable. During the summer and fall Food Truck Fridays where took place in Scotts Valley Square.

Now, Food Truck Fridays and Taco Tuesdays will take place at the BBQ area at Skypark.

“We’re looking forward to seeing one another face to face,” says LaLi Kates, who organizes the events from her business Food Trucks A-Go-Go. “The last year has been very challenging, and we’re so excited that the community is coming back together.”

April will begin with ice cream from Aunt LaLi’s, authentic Mexican dishes from Taquizas Gabriel and Venezuelan arepas from Pana.

“As people become more comfortable with being out more, we’ll add more food trucks,” says LaLi.

The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation is also involved this year and welcoming everyone back to community events, according LaLi.

The only aspect of the event not following tradition is the absence of beer and wine, at least for now. That’s because those permits are issued by the state, which has put them on hold. However, LaLi expects a permit to be in hand as soon as they start issuing them.
