One of my favorite people in town, a person who exudes kindness is Chris Clayton. Her community work throughout the years may fly under the radar to others because she does not speak about it, but make no mistake, it is indeed noticed and appreciated.

The work that she did and continues to do for many families that lost their homes in the CZU fires is of “hero” status. Well done Chris, you are an amazing positive influencer!

Before coming to Scotts Valley, where did you live?

We lived on the Westside in Santa Cruz.

What brought you to Scotts Valley and how long have you lived here?

We have been in Scotts Valley for 20 years. We fell in love with our Scotts Valley mountain home and had been looking for a place to live with our horses. We loved the unique area we live in  with all of its historical significance.

What do you love most about living here?

I love that we don’t fight traffic to get around town. We are closer to family. It feels a little bit slower paced and we love our neighbors. We love the parks, hiking trails and outside living all close by.

Please describe what drives and motivates you to do more for others and for the people of Scotts Valley.

I think it’s just about doing what I can to help. I’m kind-of a ‘doer” and if something needs to be done I can’t help myself. Especially the case of the families looking for homes after CZU.I had a lot of personal connections. The stories broke me. I’ve tried to stay involved since. Living in the mountains myself I can imagine how frightening the experience must have been. I couldn’t stand by.

I don’t see myself as an influencer or anything like that. I  try to be helpful and take advantage of my resources and experience as a Realtor. Thank you for this special mention.
