In a conversation today with the Santa Cruz County Economic Recovery Council, County Health Director Dr. Gail Newel gave some encouraging news and information to those in attendance on the call according to Scotts Valley Chamber Executive Director, Danny Reber who was on the call.

Dr. Newel stated that COVID numbers in Santa Cruz County are continuing to decline, with Newel expecting that we will be moving into the Red Tier next Tuesday at Noon, and she anticipates that we will likely be in the Orange Tier by early April.

Currently Santa Cruz County is in Purple tier, the most restrictive. Tiers are as follows:

The four tiers are yellow, orange, red and purple. Yellow indicates minimal COVID-19 spread and allows for nearly all businesses to reopen indoor operations (as long as physical distancing and face-covering requirements are in place). – source, ABC News
