Afterworld Book Party

Join local author and band Summoning Circle to celebrate the release of the fourth and final novel in Rice’s Afterworld book series, Anam Cara, by dropping by Felton Mercantile on Highway 9 for music, readings, and community love.

Kellie (who writes under her initials K.M. Rice) was born and raised in our mountains has been telling stories since she could first hold a crayon. She has worked for Weta Workshop (the folks behind Lord of the Rings and Avatar) and as an independent contractor in Hollywood, but is happy to still call SLV home.

The four-book Afterworld series tells the epic tale of a love so strong it cannot be constrained by death… or time. Compared by readers to Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels, this unique historical fantasy series combines Irish folklore and history with the modern world. Beginning in Santa Cruz, the story takes readers on a whirlwind journey across continents, eras, and beyond.

Anam Cara (releasing August 1st) concludes the journey begun in Ophelia and continued in Priestess and Fenians (all of which are available online and in Felton Mercantile). Kellie is always happy to sign books, chat, and will read an excerpt from her new novel (around 4:15 and 6:30).

Summoning Circle is a Doom Folk band forged in the foothills of California tempered in the peat bogs of Ulster and sharpened along the long highways and nowhere towns between. Blending both new and old world traditional folk stylings, Joe Doucette (Santa Cruz, CA) & Jack Kelly (Belfast) dare listeners to venture far into the dark hollers and deep into the mist.
