Harvest Home & Mabon Immersive Evening

Join us for a splendid evening to welcome autumn!

For centuries, cultures have marked the grain harvest with festivals and rituals. The equinox is also a time to farewell summer and welcome the autumnal transition into the growing dark. Many of us yearn to reconnect with the land in the way of our collective ancestors, or beforefolk. Yet where do we begin? This event is the perfect place to start!

We will begin with a talk by author Kellie (K.M.) Rice, who will provide insight into the history and folklore of the harvest, followed by fun and festivity! Seasonal snacks will be available as we socialize and make traditional corn dollies and harvest charms. All materials will be provided; all you have to do is attend!

Meet your host, Kellie, who publishes under her initials, K.M. Rice:

“As with all of my educational offerings, I draw upon my background both as a writer and as a student. I have a BA in English which included an array of literature courses, along with a minor in Humanities. Both degrees not only built a strong foundation for my education but also launched me to receive my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing.

While we may not all share the genetics of European ancestry, those of us under the influence of Western culture have certainly inherited a multitude of European cultural customs, including holidays. I have termed these collective ancestors as ‘beforefolk’ since they are those who came before, but may not be all our ancestors in the true sense. Nevertheless, these teachings are open to all.”
