Jackie Strong is just that, a STRONG woman who influences others through her actions as a leader of various youth sports. Many times coaching more than one team at a time, her commitment to our youth and guiding them through the ups and downs of team sports which many times relate to life is legendary.
Many times flying under the radar just doing her thing, she is recognized and validated as a leader and influencer in our little paradise called Scotts Valley.
Before coming to Scotts Valley, where did you live?
Before coming to SV for the last time, I lived in Bonny Doon.
What brought you to Scotts Valley and how long have you lived here?
I moved to SV when I was 6 and tried to get away a few times, but ultimately kept coming back to the area. We officially moved back to Scotts Valley 17 yrs ago to raise a family.
What do you love most about living here?
I love the living here because of the schools and I can be in the redwoods or at the beach within a 10 min drive.
Please describe what drives and motivates you to do more for others and for the people of Scotts Valley.
Coaching keeps me involved in the sports I loved as a kid and is a great way to keep kids active, engaged and give them skills that will help them later on in life. Sports teach kids how to compete, work hard towards a goal, work as a team and put team above their own needs, accept those who may be different from them, and how to win and lose with grace and humility. The coaches I had growing up, especially in high school, helped form the person I am today. I can only hope I can have the same impact on a kids life.
