Maria Gauthier has been working for years as a volunteer in several rec leagues including her non-stop work for the Scotts Valley Girls Softball League. Whether working tirelessly with the league assisting with various tasks or working the snack shack for softball and little league teams, Maria has also been past PTA President for the Vine Hill PTA and much more.

If you know Scotts Valley and if you have been involved with Vine Hill School or some of the sports leagues in town, you no doubt have met Maria who is so deserving of being recognized as a positive influencer in our beautiful city. It is indeed a better place because of her.

Before coming to Scotts Valley, where did you live?

I spent my formative years in Santa Cruz before settling in Scotts Valley with my children.

What brought you to Scotts Valley and how long have you lived here?

I moved to Scotts Valley in 2003.  We found a house that I immediately could see raising my family in.  I fell in love with the whole neighborhood.  Scotts Valley has always had a reputation for being a safe community and having some of the best schools in the county.  I was pregnant with my son then, so that was a big draw for me.  I have been here ever since and can’t imagine a better place to raise a family.

What do you love most about living here?

I love many things about our little community.  I love that my children grew up in a place where they could ring a neighbor’s doorbell to see if they could play.  I love how “involved” everyone is and how others look after your children as if they were their own.  The people in Scotts Valley make our community the best!

Please describe what drives and motivates you to do more for others and for the people of Scotts Valley.

I really don’t feel like I do all that much. (Yes Maria, yes you do…) I try to volunteer as much as I can to give back to the community that has been so good to me and my children.
