CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS FOR LOCAL FIRMS WERE APPROVED BY UNANIMOUS VOTE OF SLVWD BOARD

The San Lorenzo Valley Water District’s (SLVWD) Board of Directors unanimously voted to award construction contracts to two local firms to move forward two key infrastructure improvement projects that will replace aging water mains.

“Repairing and maintaining water system infrastructure is vital for our community,” San Lorenzo Valley Water District Manager Rick Rogers said. “While these projects may cause temporary traffic delays, they help ensure District customers will have sufficient fire flow and access to reliable water for years to come.”

Monterey Peninsula Engineering, Inc., will take on the Lyon and Big Steel Pipeline off Highway 236. Water mains in both of these areas have been prone to breaks and severe leaks in recent years. The $6 million project will replace water mains, fittings, valves and fire hydrants. Construction is scheduled to Winter 2023.

The second contract awarded by the Board was to Casey Construction for the Redwood Park Pipeline Project. The project will replace water mains and improve residential water service along Country Club Drive and Woodland Drive in Ben Lomond. The $600k project is scheduled to begin Fall 2023.

The District will share project details and information about traffic control and road delays on its website and social media upon start of the projects.
