SCOTTS VALLEY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION GRANTS $60,000 TO SCOTTS VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR 2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR
Funds to support academic programs in highest need across Brook Knoll and Vine HIll Elementary, Scotts Valley Middle School and Scotts Valley High School
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA, May 27, 2020 –Today, the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation (SVEF) announced that it will provide a $60,000 grant to the Scotts Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) for the 2020/2021 school year. The funds will be used to support programs with the highest need for the academic year, once more information is known about how schools will operate amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Programs supported include, but, are not limited to; funding librarians, supplying needed technology and counseling services for all four schools in the district.
Each year SVEF works with leadership at the district to identify the greatest academic needs for the upcoming school year and provides funding for programs that help maintain a high level of education. With the current COVID-19 pandemic affecting economies all around the world and public safety at the top of everyone’s mind, local educators are working around the clock to create plans that are in accordance with local and state health guidelines and best serve the needs of local children. With the crisis constantly evolving and budget cuts expected, educators have no choice but to remain flexible until more is known.
“There are a lot of unanswered questions right now with regard to what school will look like for the upcoming academic year,” said Tanya Krause, Superintendent of Scotts Valley Unified School District. “As we work through all possible scenarios, it is very reassuring to know that once decisions have been made, we will have the funding from SVEF to support the most needed programs. We are grateful for the continued support of the SVEF and its commitment to helping us maintain high educational standards and meet the needs of all of the children in this community.”
