Before coming to Scotts Valley, where did you live?

I grew up in Manhattan Beach, CA, a suburb of LA. I moved to Santa Cruz to attend UCSC. When it came time to buy our first home, Steven and I landed in an Aptos townhouse near Seacliff Beach.

What brought you to Scotts Valley and how long have you lived here?

The easy commute to San Jose was the big reason my family relocated from Aptos to Scotts Valley, as well as the public schools’ reputation. My family and I have lived here for almost 15 years and we have felt so incredibly fortunate to have landed in such a fantastic neighborhood, surrounded by kind, thoughtful, hardworking, generous, and engaged people!

What do you love most about living here?

What everyone else loves about living here: the redwoods, the hiking and biking trails, the old-school neighborliness, the safety. Kids can play in the neighborhood, bike around town, walk everywhere. I never worry. People look out for each other and each others’ kids.

Please describe what drives and motivates you to do more for others and for the people of Scotts Valley.

When I see an opportunity to engage with our community, if I can manage to fit it into my busy life, I try to seize it…every little bit of effort is cumulative and all of our efforts together make a massive difference to our quality of life here, to our kids’ education, to our neighbors.

Our town is what We the People make it; it’s an ever-evolving collection of energy, spirit, hard-work, learning about ourselves and learning about one another! Volunteering opens the door to meeting the most amazing, generous, interesting, and inspiring people and I am so very grateful for the connections I get to make here in Scotts Valley!
