If you were part of the My Scotts Valley community during the holiday season in 2013, you may have been a part of, or got to enjoy the inauguration of the Annual My Scotts Valley Christmas Lights Contest as 17 beautifully decorated homes joined in on the contest. The contest generated thousands of visitors to MyScottsValley.com that logged in to view the homes online and download a list along with a map of all the homes that were entered into the contest.

The winners of the 2013 contest were:

  • 1st place – 106 Lauren Circle
  • 2nd Place – 112 Bordeaux Lane
  • 3rd Place – 405 Saddle Circle Drive

The winner of the best-decorated community was the SkyPark Community with the Vineyards being a close 2nd place.

This year promises to be even better than last year as the excitement and talk in town already is how many families are looking forward to driving around with maps to view the homes in this upcoming contest. In addition, the popularity of the My Scotts Facebook page is ten-fold as last year at this time it had less than 500 members, as the page had just been officially announced in September of 2013. At this time, the page is rapidly approaching 5,000 members which could contribute to a very active and exciting contest this year.

One new addition will be food barrels that will be in front of some of the homes where you can drop off canned food that will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank, a local food bank that helps feed families in the area that are in need. The barrels will be provided and picked up as they get full by Second Harvest.

There will be 3 judges, along with votes from the community that will be deciding on the winners. The parameters that will be judged are:

  • Design showing Christmas Spirit
  • Originality
  • Amount of Lights
  • Wow! factor

In addition to choosing a winner for the best decorated home, there will also be a category for best decorated neighborhood as the SkyPark community took the prize last year and looks to repeat with a tight-knit neighborhood that was the talk of the town during this past Halloween.

The printable list and maps of homes in the contest will be available once the total amount of contestants reaches 10, with the information being updated frequently as more homes are added. However, homes in the contest will be uploaded on this site as they enter. so you can start viewing and even voting on your favorite ones.

You will be able to vote online on a 5 star rating system for each home and your vote will be one of the determining factors that the judges will be using, so please do vote!

DEADLINE EXTENDED: The deadline for voting will be Sunday, December 28th at 9pm and the winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 30th on this page and also on the My Scotts Valley Facebook page.

If you are looking to enter your home into the contest, please send in your information below and we will be in touch shortly to confirm your information and start gathering addresses of contestants so that a list and maps can begin to be generated.
