Scotts Valley had its share of accidents this week both on and off the freeway as the wet weather contributed to slippery and dangerous road conditions.

On Wednesday there was an accident on Mt Hermon Road by Lockewood Lane where a truck was suspended by power lines, and on Thursday afternoon another accident took place with an SUV injuring two 18 year old women on highway 17 near Mount Hermon Road. In between and after these incidents there were also several other traffic accidents in the surrounding areas and on highway 17 that were brought on by the wet weather, which is expected to return again this weekend.

Twenty three percent (23%) of car accidents are weather related on average every year. That is almost one in four accidents being caused by weather conditions with the vast majority happening on pavement and during rainfall.

It is a reminder for all to drive careful, be safe and always be aware of your surroundings.
