SLIPOUT REPAIR IN BROOKDALE TO RESULT IN THREE OVERNIGHT FULL CLOSURES ON STATE ROUTE 9 FOR UTILITY RELOCATION BEGINNING MONDAY, MARCH 5

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY– Caltrans will conduct three full overnight closures at the Brookdale slip-out on Monday, March 5, Tuesday, March 6, and Wednesday, March 7 from 10 pm until 6 am the next morning. These closures are necessary for the relocation of Pacific Gas and Electric utility lines. 

The purpose of this construction project is to repair the slip out from last winter by constructing a soldier pile wall and side hill viaduct. The first phase of drilling soldier piles has been completed. The second phase, completing a soldier pile wall and construction of a viaduct is expected to take place following the relocation of these utility lines.  

Electronic message boards and signs will be posted to alert motorists of this roadwork. Utility line relocation should be completed by Wednesday, March 7 at 6 am.

The contractor for this $4,000,000 construction project is Gordon Ball Construction of Concord, CA. this project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2018.
