Before coming to Scotts Valley, where did you live?

Before moving to Scotts Valley we lived in Redwood City.

What brought you to Scotts Valley and how long have you lived here?

We moved to Scotts Valley 9 years ago. My husband Dave and I wanted to live in a community that had that small town feel but still close to everything. We wanted a place with highly rated public schools that our kids could walk to without crossing too many streets (they had to cross 15 streets to get to school in Redwood City). When we purchased our home we both worked in tech — I was at Facebook and Dave was at Apple.  We loved the outdoor activities available in Scotts Valley from mountain biking, to hiking, to surfing, and the beauty of the area. When we drove through Scotts Valley we knew instantly that we wanted to raise our 4 kids here.

What do you love most about living here?

We love our neighbors. I will never forget the first couple weeks we moved in. Neighbors dropped off welcome baskets, food, flowers. My youngest was an infant and I was pretty overwhelmed with a move to a new community so it really made a huge impact on me.  I love that our neighborhood goes all out decoration for Halloween and Christmas to bring joy and entertain the community.  We love that we can ride bikes to school. We have been a part of Vine Hill Elementary, Baymonte, Scotts Valley Middle, and Scotts Valley High and all are walkable from our home and have awesome parent involvement. I love the open space trails that opened up a few years after we moved here. They have been a wonderful place for the kids to keep active and outside.

Please describe what drives and motivates you to do more for others and for the people of Scotts Valley.

I love our community. When I first moved here I was a part of launching the Father Daughter dance, now called the VIP Dance, in our community to raise money for our schools, and I have a passion for seeing our schools get the support and funding they need to thrive. I was also a part of launching the Scotts Valley Mom’s facebook group with my dear friend Heidi, to help create more connection and community as Scotts Valley continues to grow. I’m a huge cheerleader of women! I want to see them grow and thrive and step into their gifts, whatever they may be. Whether it’s planning an auction which I have been a part of doing for multiple local schools, or a 2 day retreat for Middle Schoolers to get outside, to running the local Beloved Restoration meeting to support women wading through addiction themselves or supporting children or family members wading through it, I find joy in seeing people connect and support each other. We were created for community. God has given me so much, and restored areas in my life I never thought possible. I want to share that love and grace in return with everyone I meet.
