- The 25 Most Positive Influential Women of Scotts Valley in 2024 will be announced here beginning Wednesday, March 20th through Sunday March 24th in three groups of five, and then final group of top ten on Sunday March 24th.
Throughout the years, Scotts Valley has had more than it’s fair share of incredible women leaders and contributors to the community in one form or another.
Names like Annette Marcum, Patti Malone, Kristin Aard, Claire Hodgin and Lynn Beebe have been in many ways synonymous with our city for their endless work and contributions as business leaders and leaders in our community.

There is no shortage of incredible woman leaders and difference makers in Scotts Valley through the years and there is no shortage today. One can write a book inserting names of so many women who are difference makers, movers and shakers and leaders by example. They are plentiful and they are appreciated. They make the community that we live in a much better place and they all do it without wanting or needing recognition. They lead by example. Their actions speak louder than words.
What’s interesting about the list of The 25 Most Influential Women of Scotts Valley is how many of them asked me if I meant to send them the email to let them know that they were being recognized. So many of them were surprised and expressed so much appreciation for the recognition. And to me, that said it all.
You see, a positive influencer does not have to have the most fans or followers, they just need to be just that, a positive influence to others. Those that do for others without ever expecting anything in return or without wanting recognition are those that set examples for all. They do it because they care, because it is in their DNA and they also are movers and shakers because of what they do either in shaking things up away from the norm or paving new paths for others to follow.
March is Women’s History Month
With March being Women’s History Month, we honor what we feel are The 25 Most Positive Influential Women of Scotts Valley, in no particular order with the exception of having the first list of 15 influencers being introduced in groups of 5 beginning Wednesday March 20th through Friday March 22nd, being announced each day. They will be followed up with the final top 10 influencers that will be announced at 12pm, Sunday March 24th.
The Criteria
What is our definition of an influencer for this list?
Various individuals in Scotts Valley were asked to submit names of women that today are influencing and leading this city by example whether it be in education, the business world or for their continuous contributions to our community in addition to the influence that they give to others. Some of the criteria used was:
• Are they making a lasting impression and contributing to our community?
• Are they leaving a positive influence to others including empowering other women and influencing our youth as positive role models?
• Are they viewed as an influencer or inspiration in a positive way?
After receiving numerous lists from various locals and professionals, we found a pattern of many of these outstanding women of influence being on most of the lists that we got back.
Who Are They?
Once identified, we thought you would like to know a little more about them and their history in Scotts Valley and we asked each one of them the following 4 questions:
1. Where did you live before coming to Scotts Valley?
2. How long have you lived here?
3. What do you love best about our city?
4. What motivates you to do what you do for others and for the people of Scotts Valley?
Along with sharing their answers, we will share our thoughts on what makes them a member of The 25 Most Positive Influential Women of Scotts Valley and why they were chosen.
Announcements Start Wednesday, March 20th at 6pm
So stay tuned starting Wednesday through Friday at 6pm and Sunday at 12pm as they will all be posted and recognized as The 25 Most Positive Influential Women of Scotts Valley! Just come back to this page daily as we will be posting the finalists in groups as stated above for several days.
And please note, there were many people in Scotts Valley who were asked to submit names and the list of incredible influencers does not stop at the 25 on our list. Again, there are so many incredible women in Scotts Valley that lead by example and could be on this list too. It was a tough list to put together because of it, it was not easy narrowing it down to the 25 on our list.
So on that note, thank you to all you incredible women for all you do every day to make our city and our world a better place! You are acknowledged and you are validated.
