FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nicole DeLauder takes the helm of the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce

Scotts Valley, CA • February 4, 2014

The Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce welcomes in the new Executive Development Director, Nicole DeLauder, on February 10th 2014. Nicole brings years of leadership and business experience to the job, having worked the last eight years as a high performing retail manager. Nicole was born and raised in Santa Cruz County, coming from the Pini family, who have been an active part of the community for four generations. Early in her career, Nicole worked at the Aptos Chamber of Commerce under the leadership of Karen and John Hibble, while attending college courses at Cabrillo College.

At the Aptos Chamber of Commerce, Nicole learned how to plan and execute monthly Social Mixers as well as the Annual Business Showcase in the Capitola mall, promoting local businesses. She worked alongside the Santa Cruz Mountain Winegrowers Association. With the SCMWA, she helped to run events such as the Annual Vintner’s Festival, Annual Winemakers’Dinner, and various Wine Passport events throughout Santa Cruz County. Working with both the Chamber of Commerce and with a large retailer Nicole has learned the value in both small and large business, and most of all the importance of creating and sustaining a network through community relationships.

Nicole left the Aptos Chamber of Commerce to finish college, and graduated two years later from San Francisco State University with a BA in English and Creative Writing. After college she was recruited by Limited Brands and ran a multi-million dollar store in San Jose with over one hundred and twenty team members, all hired and trained by Nicole. Her most recent assignment with Limited Brands was overseeing a district of ten stores and store managers, from Monterey to Fremont. Nicole brings to the position of Executive Director a vast network of friends, family, and co-workers she has accumulated over the years, throughout the greater county and surrounding areas. She says her success with any job is due to her motto of staying grounded in what is most important: the peoplewho make up the enterprise.

Nicole now resides in Corralitos with her husband, Nick DeLauder, who works in Scotts Valley. She makes the career change from retail store management back to the Chamber of Commerce as a way to reconnect with the community she and her husband, siblings, mother, father and so many more family members and friends have resided in for generations. “I am excited to see what my experience can contribute to the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce. My goal is to facilitate membership growth for the Chamber and to work to identify and address current members’ needs. I will work with local businesses and government to promote positive economic development. I aspire to be out with the local businesses and people to listen and truly understand what the community of Scotts Valley needs in order to be the best place to live, work and experience.”
