SVPD PRESS RELEASE: Felony Evading and Collision

On 11/04/18 at approximately 1410 hours, an officer with the Scotts Valley Police Department observed a vehicle driving unsafely. As the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle continued to drive erratically and began to flee from the officer. A pursuit was initiated, which continued onto SB SR-17 and SB Highway 1. The pursuit was taken over by the California Highway Patrol as the vehicle exited onto Bay Ave, and was terminated shortly after. While traveling back to Scotts Valley, the officer came upon a traffic collision at Bay Ave and Hill St in the City of Capitola. The collision involved the suspect vehicle and another motorist. The suspect had fled on foot from the scene, but was located nearby by CHP officers and taken into custody.

The suspect and his passenger, as well as the occupant of the other vehicle were all transported to area hospitals for injuries. The suspect, identified as Lac To, was arrested for several felony charges and booked at the Santa Cruz County Jail after being released from the hospital.
